Cornerstone hits £100m completion milestone in 2021

Cornerstone Commercial Finance has announced that it arranged £100m worth of deals in 2021.

The case that helped the brokerage hit the milestone was a £2.85m loan secured by its head of complex funding, Ian Pottle, for the development of a Cheltenham residential scheme.

The client — Tim Fry Landrovers — required the funds to develop one of the units of land it currently uses for storage into residential properties, for which it received planning permission.

The loan was provided by YBS Commercial Finance over a 20-year term.

“We are delighted that that this deal was a resounding success and that it has taken Cornerstone past the £100m mark this year,” said Ian.

“Tim [Fry, owner of Tim Fry Landrovers] has a great business and could see the potential in developing this section of land, but was faced with a lack of appetite from his existing bank due to changes in its policy.

“We have a great relationship with YBS Commercial Finance and after discussing the case with Sue [Lewis, relationship director at YBS Commercial Finance], we found a solution that worked for everyone.

“I’m looking forward to following the journey as the properties are developed next year.”

Tim added: “I am delighted with the service I have received from Ian; his knowledge of the market and quick turnaround has enabled me to forge ahead with the development in the new year.

“The new residential units will be a fantastic addition to my existing portfolio and will support the growth of my business long-term.”
